I am so stoked to finally be in the second semester of my senior year. I'm looking forward to getting into college and enjoying the rest of the time I have with the people I've grown up with. All of the events that I have been looking forward to for years are happening now and I'm now anticipating them more than ever. That includes the development of my capstone project for PLTW. The first challenge that we are being faced with is determining if our idea is one that is even desired. Would we be helping people with our solution? Other challenges that we could face as result of us solving a nonexistent problem would be trying to find another problem to solve. We are beginning a long, thankless, and grueling process of trying to help others and even with all of those negative descriptors, I'm incredibly excited to begin.
Products that are made for profit often do not solve worthwhile problems in my opinion. It is also very clear when something is made for profit rather than in an attempt to help or benefit others. A product that is made to benefit others often solve problems that many people experience or need to be solved whereas products made for profit create imaginary problems or do not solve any major problems. Creating a product for profit has pros of obviously providing profit for the creator which allows the creator to live a better life. A con of creation for profit is that is often soulless. The pros and cons for creating a product for the greater good of society/humanity is vice versa that of creating a product for profit. Not always as profitable but making something to benefit people is fufilling.
